Long
story short, I am now living out of my van who I have elegantly named
Pearl. I have been in Jackson for almost two weeks now and have gotten a
job at a local bar, am getting certified for whitewater kayak and SUP
instructing and I plan to do a little gardening.
Now
for the important stuff. As I was exploring the area the other day I
hopped into the black pearl and drove down to the river. After a nice
picnic with myself and a few squirrels I decided to go back into town.
Before I closed the door and started driving I heard a buzzzzzzz. I knew
something was up but I didnt think too much of it because nothing was
to be seen.
I
drove for about 20 minutes and pulled into a parking lot. Again I hear
the buzzzzz. I look directly to my left and staring me down was one of
the biggest wasps I have ever encountered. Our eyes met and we both knew
we were in for some trouble. Trying to stay calm I quickly sprang into
action! I rolled down my window. However, the wasp did not take to the
open air but instead decided to fly across Pearl, up and above the
shotgun sun visor. Baffled, I quickly decided to grab a weapon. I chose
the five iron in the back of the car.
I
opened up all of Pearl's hatches and wielded the club trying to sway
this ferocious beast out of my home. To my prevail the wasp flew out!
But then flew right back in. I was overcome with joy and then sorrow and
now the worst part was I had no clue where the winged creature lay.
Disheartened I was forced to retreat to the nearby Mcdonalds for a
small fry and water cup ($1.16) to plan strategy.
After
an hour and a nice phone conversation with my buddy Josh, I returned to
the battlefield. I gave Pearl a thorough scan yet my yellow horned opponent was
nowhere to be seen. I hoped that he may have exited but still don't know
if hes living in the vents or has sadly died of smothering and lack of
oxygen. Fly on or rest in peach worthy adversary, till we meet again.
Here are a few pictures from my travels. Its nice to be back amongst the Tetons.
