Hello San Francisco

HEELLLOOOO  CALIFORNIA

Its a bit surreal to think that I now reside in San Francisco.  I never thought I'd end up this far west.  California, to me, has always been this far away land filled with celebrities, movie stars and earthquakes.  Tech companies and vineyards.  But fate has taken me here so Im going to make the most of it.

I took 70 West through the rockies and into Utah, stopped in Salt Lake City briefly and then rode Route 80 West until it literally ended. (Second time I've driven on a major highway until it ended, first was in Miami with Eric and John after going south on 95 for the length of the East Coast)  Last Friday night I found myself in San Francisco, the city by the bay.  I was greeted by Shannon, her mother and brother Brandon who were in town visiting, her brother Kevin, cousin Colin and his girlfriend Steph who live there.  The rest has been a blur.

It took me until Wednesday just to move my belongings out of my car and into the basement.  Partly because the living situation was still up in the air and partly because I like to party.  Last weekend was a lot of fun celebrating Shannon's cousin's birthday and watching playoff football.  (results could have been better) This weekend involved organizing/setting up the basement, disc golfing, meeting up with my old friend Cecchi, exploring the Castro neighborhood and running errands.  The goal for next weekend is to explore Chinatown, the oldest Chinatown in North America and the largest Chinese community outside of Asia.

I began working with Shannon last Monday at her job with the hot start-up Zenefits.  Here is an exciting article written last week about her company.

More updates to come as we explore the Bay Area.  As always, visitors encouraged

PFM

Well  folks its been an amazing winter so far here in Jackson Hole. Evan just recently visited and we had ourselves a hootananny of a good time! I have been working on the Bridger Gondola at Teton Village Resort and let me tell you it has been a great experience. I'll let you know that I sure do hate waking up in the morning but watching the sunrise from the top of the gondola every morning is worth the hour or so that I resent. Luckily my morning commute is just a walk to the bus stop and a nice 30 minute snooze cruise to the mountain.

The bar is hoppin' as we have had great live music come and play. The Broncos are officially in the ship and I couldn't be happier. The L.O.B. has got a storm coming their way that will be impossible to prepare for! PFM!!

Dustin and I also had a fire to celebrate! (He would like people to know that he is single and ready to mingle.)

Evan posted some of these but I figured Id post some more.

Jackson for a Minute

Before I officially made my move to California, I wanted to take advantage of the opportunity to visit an old friend.  I decided to fly up to Jackson for two nights to spend some quality time with my best bud, and fellow Blogger, Eric.

Our time was short together so we made the most of it.  Among other things, we watched backyard bicycle racing, discussed potential blog topics and took advantage of JanuaANY at Subway (Double Meat of course).  We also strapped on the boards and rode Jackson Hole on Tuesday.  The conditions were ideal.  Warm weather, plenty of powder as a four day snow storm had just rolled through and no lines anywhere.  It was a quick and easy shuttle to the mountain and back from Eric's apartment which made it that much better.  We topped the trip off by hustling some locals in pool at the Cowboy Saloon.

It was a trip that came and went far too fast.  I returned to Denver on Wednesday evening and hit the road to San Francisco.  Glad I was able to squeeze in the trip up to Wyoming.  Though he has grown tired of the cold, Eric lives in a great place and is having a blast.  I hope to be back to visit him soon.

Jackson Hole Airport (JAC) is one of my favorites.  Every passenger gets to walk out onto the       runway to board the plane.  Makes you feel like a big shot.  And with that view, whats not to like

Goodbye Colorado

Goodbye Colorado and Thank You.  The last 16 months with you have been splendid.  I am grateful for the people I've met and the experiences I've had while living in your state.  So many positive memories.  Everyday may not have been roses but there were many more good days than bad and it all added up to one hell of an experience.  One I'll cherish and never forget.  But like all good things must do, my time in Denver has come to an end.  My lease has terminated and I have decided to move San Francisco, California.

I know many of you are asking yourself, "Evan why?  Why would you leave such a beautiful place, a place that just legalized weed for God's sake!???"  I would say the reason that best describes my decision is to honor the principles that this great country was founded upon.  Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.  On top of pursuing happiness, San Fran is an exciting city filled with start-up companies, professional sports teams and opportunity.  Shannon has also recently moved to the San Francisco and I am pumped to explore the City by the Bay with her.

To all the friends I've made along the way, I'll miss you and my door/couch is always open.  Stay in touch and plan a visit.  To my friends and family back East, thanks for your love and support and thank you to all of those who came to visit me in Denver.  It meant the world to me.  For those who missed me in Denver,  you can make it up to me by coming to San Francisco.  I'll forgive you.

P.S.  My profile pictures are the results of a lost bet ...  Go Pats!!
